Credentials & Education
Dr. Nick Occhipinti is an evidence based and rehab focused chiropractor, strength and conditioning specialist, and professor. He began his career in the health and fitness industry at 19 when he got his first job as a personal trainer. He has always pursued an active life and studies health and fitness extensively to further himself and help others.
His desire to learn about exercise and its effects on health and performance brought him to Rutgers University where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science and later to California University of Pennsylvania, now PennWest California, where he earned a Masters of Science in Exercise Science and Health Promotion.
After working for several years in the fitness industry managing fitness centers and working as a private and team strength coach, Dr. Occhipinti decided to pursue further training in healthcare. He earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic (DC) degree from the University of Bridgeport and graduated Summa Cum Laude and as class Valedictorian. During his time at the University of Bridgeport he served as the President of the Sports Club and on the Curriculum Committee. He worked as a research assistant and as a tutor helping other Chiropractic and Physician Assistant students excel in biochemistry, anatomy, and physiology. Upon graduation he was awarded the Richard E. Vincent Student Leadership award and Student Research Award.
Dr. Occhipinti’s goal in practice is to bridge the gap between fitness, performance, and healthcare while educating and empowering his patients. He specializes in sports performance and return to sport after injury using his vast knowledge of exercise physiology and rehabilitation to help his patients get back to their active life.
When not in the office Dr. Occhipinti works as an adjunct at Rutgers University and the College of Staten Island teaching anatomy and exercise physiology. He has been featured as an expert in health and fitness in several online publications and media outlets such as CNN, US News & World Report, and LIVESTRONG. Dr. Occhipinti enjoys pursuing a highly active life himself, frequently taking hiking trips with his wife, mountain biking, lifting weights, and playing the guitar.
